So I was thinking of buying myself a new controller for my switch, as I'd rather not use the joycons too often. I like to save them for the handheld mode, and use a standard controller to play on TV instead. I just feel more comfortable doing that. With that being said, I do have a pro controller, but it's kind of acting up. Do you guys have any suggestions for good third party controllers? I would get a pro controller from Nintendo, but I bet it's a lot for one at the moment.

I think official controllers are more than enough. You can use the 3rd party controllers. And there is no issue with using them. But if you buy cheap and replaceable stuff then those often have short life span. Find out quality controllers and see if you can use it for long enough. I'd say you should experiment with 3rd party and find it out yourself.
